Every honest believer has been there. You pray, and the ceiling feels like a ceiling. You open your Bible and the words feel flat. You sit in church and watch others worship with a freedom that seems, in this season, just out of reach for you.
Can I tell you something that might help? The feeling of distance is not the same as actual distance. Feelings lie. The same God who felt absent to the Psalmist — “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” — was present in that very cry. The cry itself was prayer. The reaching was relationship.
Spiritual dryness is not a sign that you’ve failed or that God has moved. Sometimes it is simply the shape that growth takes — the long, unglamorous stretch between one encounter and the next. Keep showing up. Keep speaking into the silence. The story is not over.
